Between Lewes and Eastbourne
Notice details
A fault with barriers at a level crossing between Lewes and Eastbourne is causing disruption to journeys between these stations. As a result, trains may be delated by up to 20 minutes or revised. This is expected until 21:30. Customer advice: If you are travelling between Lewes and Eastbourne, you can use your normal route, but please allow extra time to reach your destination. Services that normally run between London Victoria and Ore may terminate and restart at Hastings. You may need to change trains at Hastings for onwards travel. Services are currently being delayed by at least 20 minutes. Please speak to station staff and check journey planners for more information. Planning your journey: For help planning your journey, check live departure boards , view a live network map or see alternative route guides . If you’re travelling within London, you can use the TfL Journey Planner . Stay up to date on the move with Southern’s WhatsApp channel . Live updates are available Monday to Friday, 07:00–21:00. Can you tell me more about the incident? A problem with the barriers has been identified at a level crossing near Glynde. This will cause delays to your journey in this area. Although there's a fault, trains can still run, but it will take longer to get to your destination. Trains will need to stop on the approach to the crossing, and drivers will then get verbal instructions to continue. They will travel at slower speeds so that they can see anything which may be obstructing them. Network Rail are working to ensure the barriers are fixed and trains can return to their normal speeds as soon as possible. Check before you travel: You can check your journey using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner . Compensation: You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
